The New Emporer's Clothes

While driving from New Orleans to Dallas and back this week, I had ample time to listen to talk radio. I managed to catch a fair dose of Neal Boortz, who read excerpts from an article from Mark Morford of the San Fransisco Chronicle. It was a fascinating piece; so much so that I had to look it up and read it in its entirety myself.

Compact Fluorescent Bulbs

It's a favorite hobby when I'm in big box hardware stores to warn people that they don't want Compact Fluorescent Lights. It's by far a more pressing environmental danger than the assumed danger of global warming.

Justice Joseph Story

Justice Joseph Story, appointed to the Supreme Court by our Constitution’s principal author, James Madison, wrote in his Commentaries on the Constitution of the United States (1833), “The right of the citizens to keep and bear arms has justly been considered, as the palladium of the liberties of the republic; since it offers a strong moral check against usurpation and arbitrary power of the rulers; and will generally, even if these are successful in the first instance, enable the people to resist and triumph over them.”

Anti Gunner Stabbed to Death

A prominent anti-gun campaigner has been stabbed to death at a flat in West Yorkshire.

The body of Pat Regan, 53, was discovered at the property on Marlborough Grange in the Hyde Park area of Leeds on Sunday.

Mrs Regan, a mother-of-six, started campaigning against gun crime after her son Danny was shot dead in 2002.

How Obama Really Feels about Guns

“I knew Obama during the mid-1990s. The first time I introduced myself to him he said ‘Oh, you are the gun guy.’ I responded ‘Yes, I guess so.’ He simply responded, ‘I don’t believe that people should be able to own guns.”’ —Professor John Lott, PhD, author of More Guns, Less Crime

A quote from John McCain regarding the Second Amendment

“For more than two decades, I’ve opposed efforts to ban guns, ban ammunition, ban magazines, and dismiss gun owners as some kind of fringe group unwelcome in ‘modern’ America.

The Second Amendment isn’t some archaic custom that matters only to rural Americans, who find solace in firearms out of frustration with their economic circumstances. The Second Amendment is unique in the world. It guarantees an individual right to keep and bear arms.

The Tip of the Iceberg of Government Waste

Every year we hear news stories of how the Government Accounting Office (GAO) identifies credit card abuse as a major problem. This is absurd. We've been seeing these stories in the news for years and the government has done nothing about it. So now they're talking about a bill to be able to fire these people. We actually need a congressional bill to be able to fire a government employee that steals from us? What about jail time? This is larceny, plain and simple.
